Dutch Internet Racing Team

That is the full name of the label I put on myself. Who am I?
I am Maurice J. Wijma. Born in Amsterdam, near a go-kart track that I have never visited until I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 1 when I was 8 years old.
My first time behind a steering wheel was when I got invited to go to that track, for an afternoon of go-karting with children with diabetes.
Those vehicles were very oversteery, so we were instructed to keep it slow. Nobody actually held back. We were young!
For some reason I was the only one who didn’t spin multiple times. After one spin I knew how far I could go, and what to do when I reach just over that line. Something I still do in sims sometimes.
From that time on there was one thing always on my mind: Racing!
From racing RC cars, to joining leagues in simracing, my will to drive was always there. And with that, I grew a good understanding of physics and mechanics. Car models didn’t really do anything with me. My favorite cars are those with great engineering behind them.

Cars for me are vehicles to bring me from A to B, or Start to Finish. Nothing more or less. I don’t mind competing in a Lada or a Ferrari. And even though I don’t like the “over or behind rear axle engine” Porsches, I would race with them if it was offered to me.
Now that I have created the team, I am going to run seasons in iRacing. Competing in the GT3, my goal is to get my racecraft to a good level in the first season. Also observing what the car is doing on different tracks will be interesting.
There will also be testing with the McLaren MP4-30 F1 car. But I will not race that car until I have enough confidence with it.

So far my first post. I will keep this updated when I have news. Like when I have finished a race, and when there are new plans. It should be a nice run, and a great challenge.
Thank you for reading!
